Yellow Rock Taxi Maxi, Linden is a township in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, which is in Australia. It’s in Blue Mountains City, which is 81 km west of Sydney and 19 km east of Katoomba. The town is on the Great Western Highway and has a station on the Main Western railway line that is served by the Blue Mountains Line of NSW TrainLink. It has the same post office and zip code as nearby Woodford, which is 2778. At the time of the 2011 census, there were 594 people living there, 19 of whom were indigenous (3.2% of the total).
The Linden railroad station was built in 1874 and was named after Linden Lodge, a house built by local businessman William Jolley Henderson in 1865. Linden was once called Seventeen Mile Hollow because it was 27.35 km from the Nepean River. It was the site of a tollhouse that was built in 1849 and torn down in the 1860s when the railroad was being built.
John Donohoe, a convict on a road gang who died on June 25, 1837, is buried near the settlement.
[4] It is also near Caley’s Repulse, a pile of rocks in the shape of a pyramid that is thought to have been built by the Aborigines. Still, some sources say that this is a myth and that the pile of rocks dates back to 1912, when a group from the Royal Australian Historical Society mistakenly put rocks in the wrong place. King’s Cave and Linden Observatory are two more nearby places to visit.
Linden Creek is an important part of the Grose River. It flows through a valley on the north side of Linden.
