Woolloomooloo is an inner-city harborside district in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Woolloomooloo, which is located 1.5 kilometres east of the Sydney CBD, is part of the City of Sydney’s local government region. It is situated at the tip of Woolloomooloo Bay on Sydney Harbour, amid a low-lying historic docklands area. The southwest corner of the suburb is close to the East Sydney area, and the southeast portion is close to the Kings Cross neighbourhood. The Domain is situated west of the neighbourhood. Potts Point is close to the east. Woolloomooloo was previously a working-class Sydney neighbourhood; it has only recently altered due to the gentrification of Sydney’s inner cities.The reconstruction of the waterfront, particularly the housing complex created on Finger Wharf, has resulted in major change. There are still some public housing areas in the suburbs (Housing NSW, sometimes known as “Housing Commission”).
