Willmot is a suburb of Sydney that can be found in the New South Wales state capital of New South Wales, Australia, inside the local government area of the City of Blacktown. The Central Business District of Sydney is located 49 kilometres to the west of this area, which makes it a component of the Greater Western Sydney region.
The community of Willmot was named after its founder, Thomas Willmot (1851–1938), who served as the first President of the Blacktown Shire Council. He held the position of Shire President twice, the first time from 1906 to 1910 and the second time from 1912 to 1913. Willmot was selected as the name for the housing complex in 1971 rather than St. Johns because the latter name had already been taken by a neighbourhood in Sydney.
