Wentworth Falls Taxi Maxi, Wentworth Falls is a town in the Blue Mountains area of New South Wales with the postal code 2782. The Wentworth Falls railway station on the Main Western line is about 100 km west of Sydney’s central business district and 8 km east of Katoomba. It is on the Great Western Highway. The town is located 867 metres above sea level AHD. At the time of the 2016 census, there were 6,076 people living in Wentworth Falls.
There are many festivals and events in Wentworth Falls, such as the Wentworth Falls Autumn Festival in April, the Wentworth Falls Public School Art and Craft Show in October, and the Task Force 72 Annual Regatta in November or December. The Wentworth Falls Cricket Club, or WFCC, is based in Wentworth Falls. It was started in 1892, making it one of the oldest cricket clubs in the Blue Mountains.
Kings Tableland is a plateau in the southeast corner of Wentworth Falls. The Kings Tableland Aboriginal Site is one of the most important archaeological sites in the area. The Gandangara, the Darug, and the Wiradjuri are very proud of this area. The area has been used as a meeting place for at least 22,000 years. It has a variety of cultural features, such as engravings, grooves for grinding axes, changed rock pools, and a shelter that people live in.
After the “Weatherboard Inn” was built in 1814, the town was first called The Weatherboard. In 1815, Governor Lachlan Macquarie changed the name to Jamison’s Valley to honour Sir John Jamison, who was the most important private citizen in the colony. In July 1867, the first train trip to the Blue Mountains started in Penrith and ended at Weatherboard Station. William Charles Wentworth was a friend of John Jamison, who led the group that crossed the Rockies in 1813. The nearby waterfalls were named after him.
Pitt Park is on the edge of town to the north. In 1826, the Bathurst Traveller was built here. It was later renamed the Weatherboard Inn. At the moment, the local war memorial is on land near the train station. Charles Darwin is said to have stayed there in 1836. He began his journey from the inn by following Jamison Creek until he reached the edge of the cliff, where he noted, “Out of nowhere, a vast abyss, probably 1,500 feet deep, opens through the trees.” The Charles Darwin Walk first opened its doors to the public in the year 1986. It goes from Wilson Park, which is next to the School of Arts, to the northern escarpment of Jamison Valley.
