Summer Hill, a suburb of Sydney, is situated in New South Wales, Australia. 7 kilometers west of Sydney’s central business district is Summer Hill, a locality in the Inner West Council’s local government area.

In Sydney’s Inner West, Summer Hill is primarily a residential area close to Parramatta Road and Liverpool Road, two of the city’s main thoroughfares. The first land grant was given to Henry Kable, a former prisoner and jailer, in 1794. After the Main Suburban railway station opened in 1879, the area began to grow.

By the 1920s, the neighborhood had become somewhat upper class as expansive estates and mansions had been built around the region. Some of these still do it now. When many of the enormous estates were destroyed or divided in the middle of the 20th century, the suburb turned working-class. Today, the suburb has a “village” feel and is made up of a mixture of medium-density apartment buildings and federation homes.
