Riverview is an Australian neighbourhood located on Sydney’s Lower North Shore in New South Wales. Riverview is located inside the Lane Cove Municipality, 9 kilometres north-northwest of Sydney’s central business district.
The park at Tambourine Bay extends to the water’s edge.
At the head of Tambourine Bay, on the northern side of the Lane Cove River, is located this community.
Riverview is primarily a residential community.
Riverview contains a variety of leisure sites. Marjorie York Reserve, a playground near local retailers that is particularly popular with families, is named for a lifelong resident. Tambourine Bay Reserve is a large park located at the intersection of Tambourine Bay Road and Kallaroo Road that has barbecue and picnic sites, as well as a playground. It also provides beautiful views of Tambourine Bay Road and is a hub for bushwalks to Longueville and surrounding the bay. Children’s soccer matches are played at Burns Bay Reserve in West Riverview during the cooler months. Similar to Tambourine Bay Reserve, this park provides picnic and grilling areas, as well as a playground. A modest recreation area with benches and a swing set may be found at the end of the walk leading from Flaumont Avenue.
State Transit operates the 253 (Freeway) and 254 (Pacific Hwy) services between Riverview and Sydney Central Business District, with departures every quarter-hour during morning rush hours and every hour during off-peak hours. Tambourine Bay Road, the principal road in the region, provides access to Lane Cove’s retail establishments. River Road West provides access to Lane Cove West and Gladesville to the west and Longueville, North Sydney, and the Sydney central business district to the east. River Road West runs along the northern border of Riverview.
Riverview’s name is derived from its location, which provides a “view” of the Lane Cove “River.” In 1880, Saint Ignatius College was built.

Tambourine Bay was named after Tambourine Nell or Tambourine Sal, who hid in a cave on the beach while avoiding the police.
