padstow taxi maxi, Padstow, a Canterbury-Bankstown Council suburb in New South Wales, is located 22 kilometres south-west of Sydney’s central business district.
Padstow is mostly a residential suburb bounded by Bankstown to the north and Salt Pan Creek, a creek that drains into the Georges River, to the east. At the northern end of the suburb, where the M5 South Western Motorway passes, there are also a few minor industrial enterprises.
Padstow Park Estate was formerly called Padstow, after the English town of Padstow. Padstow is not to be confused with the Irish city of the same name; the Cornish name means “the holy site of St. Petrock. The economy was mostly dependent on agriculture and timber harvesting. The first school at Padstow Park opened in January 1929, and the first post office opened in 1927. The region flourished after World War II, particularly after the opening of the train station on December 21, 1931. In 1939, the community formally adopted the name Padstow.
There is an extensive shopping district in and around Padstow Train Station. However, there is a greater concentration of stores on the northern side, beyond Memorial Drive and along Cahors Road.
The Padstow train station serves passengers travelling between Riverwood and Revesby on the Sydney Trains Airport & South Line. Padstow is serviced by numerous Transdev NSW bus services. McVicar’s Bus Services, which ran along these routes until it ceased operations in 1978, was the progenitor of these more recent businesses. The 927 connects Padstow to the most eastern point of the Heights, One Tree Point. The 962 travels from Bankstown to Miranda via Padstow, Illawong, Menai, and Sutherland. The S5 will transport you from Milperra to Padstow. M91 and M92 Metrobus lines provide service to Padstow. On its way from Parramatta to Hurstville, the M91 goes through Granville, Chester Hill, Bankstown, Padstow, and Peakhurst. The M92 connects Parramatta to Sutherland, passing through Lidcombe, Bankstown, Padstow, and Menai along the route.
