Oakhurst is a Sydney suburb located within the City of Blacktown local government area in the Australian state of New South Wales. It is located 46 kilometres west of Sydney’s central business district. It is a component of the Greater Region of Western Sydney.
By 1991, a brand-new community called Hassall Grove was being constructed to the north of Oakhurst. Cook Rd, on the other hand, was deemed inadequate by both developers and the surrounding community to accommodate the additional traffic that a new suburb would generate. Consequently, the restored stretch of Cook Road was joined with the expanded south-eastern section of Luxford Road to form the region’s new roadway. Developers agreed that the new road would create a better barrier between Oakhurst and the new development.

Consequently, the few properties along Southee Circuit, Bancroft Street, Westcott Place, Ophelia Place, Rotuma Street, Appletree Grove, and Dimascio Place that had already been constructed or were under construction were officially split from Hassall Grove and included into Oakhurst. Large stretches of Cook Road that were not utilised for the development of Luxford Road were either closed to traffic or revitalized with grass and playground equipment for children.
Oakhurst’s neighborhood shopping mall, Plumpton Marketplace, is home to well-known retailers and businesses including Woolworths, BigW, the Commonwealth Bank, and Flight Centre. Hassall Grove Plaza provides locals with access to a greengrocer, bakery, hair salons, and takeout restaurants.

Richard Johnson Anglican School is the principal educational institution in Oakhurst, educating students from Kindergarten through 12th grade.
Plumpton/Oakhurst Soccer Club, Inc., a local soccer team that plays at the Hyatts Road Hanna Reserve, sharing a field with Oakhurst. The organization is a member of the Blacktown & Districts Soccer Football Association Inc., which organises annual competitions for teams from neighboring districts and suburbs and players of varying ages.
