Marayong is a Sydney suburb situated in the Australian state of New South Wales. Marayong, which is part of Greater Western Sydney, is located 32 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district in the Blacktown local government area.

Marayong is a shortened form of the Aboriginal term “Marriang,” which meaning “emu” or “crane site.” The New South Wales Railways gave the station this name when it opened in October 1922.
In the years 1900 to 1905, large districts were subdivided and poultry farms and market gardens were established. Formerly a part of Quakers Hill, the Marayong Progress Association petitioned for Marayong to become a separate neighbourhood in 1926.
Prior to the 1960s, the region was predominantly rural. In the 1960s, the development of Housing Commission (public housing) estates signified the urbanisation of the region, particularly south of the railroad. A commercial area was also made accessible north of the railroad line.

The Marayong station is located on the Richmond branch of the North Shore, Northern & Western Line operated by Sydney Trains. It provides service to the city through Blacktown and Parramatta, in addition to Richmond. Motor Rail No. 1 utilised to travel between Blacktown and Marayong Station, making a stop at Marayong Station en route.
While the Westlink M7 circumnavigates the region and is accessible via the Sunnyholt Road interchange in Kings Park or the Richmond Road intersection in Dean Park, Richmond Road acts as the southern boundary of the community and connects it to Blacktown and Richmond.
