An Australian suburb, Lane Cove West is located on the New South Wales state’s Lower North Shore, near the city of Sydney. Inside the jurisdiction of the Lane Cove Council, Lane Cove West can be found 9 kilometres north-west of Sydney’s central business district. The neighbourhoods of Lane Cove and Lane Cove North are two separate localities.
It was originally farmed on property owned by John Blackman. Middle of the 1950s on, Lane Cove West was home to the Festival Mushroom Records national offices, pressing facility, warehouse, and recording facilities. Also during this time was the building of Lane Cove West Public School.
With the help of a referendum held on September 6, 2002, the community of Lane Cove West broke away from its parent community of Lane Cove to become its own suburb.
Factory and warehouse space in the Lane Cove West Business Park is occupied by companies like Lego, Macquarie Goodman, Wicked Foods, and Nestle. Sam Johnson Way (Orion Road) and Mars Road are where you’ll find the most of the neighborhood’s homes.
Several more small businesses can be found at the Figtree Plaza building at the corner of Cullen Street and Burns Bay Road. There’s a barbershop, a cafe, a beautician, a newsstand, a bakery, a butcher shop, and a fish and chip shop among these businesses. Location near the Metropolitan Baptist Church.
Near the mouth of the Lane Cove River, in a little valley called Blackman Park, garbage was dumped for many years. The Lane Cove West Tennis Club features tennis courts, cricket fields, bike lanes, a basketball court, a skate park, and paths into the bush for hiking. Smaller parks and reserves include Penrose Street Park, Garthowen Street Cricket Nets, Epping Road Reserve, and Cullen Street Reserve. Another option is the Lane Cove Bowling Club (formerly called Lane Cove West Bowling Club).
