Lakemba TAXI MAXI CAB SYDNEY

Lakemba Taxi Maxi, Sydney’s south-western suburb of Lakemba is in the Australian state of New South Wales. Located in the Canterbury-Bankstown Council, Lakemba is 15 kilometres south-west of Sydney’s central business district.
Stores both along and near Haldon Street in Lakemba sell an extensive array of both imported and homegrown fare. There are many different types of business establishments along Canterbury Road. At the corner of Haldon and Lakemba streets is where you’ll find the Lakemba Palms shopping centre. On December 3, 2007, a fire broke out at the Lakemba Palms shopping centre, destroying it.
During its early colonial history, the region was known as Potato Hill due to the prevalence of potato farms in the area. Land grants were first distributed to Lakemba around 1810 by the newly established colonial authority. Samuel Hockley was given a plot of land measuring 200,000 square metres, which he named Essex Hill Farm after the county in England where he was born. The area was known as Belmore South until 1910.
In the 1880s, Benjamin Taylor was the owner of a 22-hectare estate. The grandparents of his second wife, Rev. Cross and Mrs. Cross, served as missionaries in Fiji’s Lau Islands region beginning in 1880, so he decided to honour their service by naming their property “Lakeba” (pronounced Lakemba), after Lakeba Island. Oneata Roadway is an original street named after a small island in Fiji not far from Lakeba. To name just a few of his many occupations, Benjamin Taylor worked as an entomologist, town clerk, alderman, and eventually as mayor of Canterbury Council. In 1895, the railway line was extended to the neighbouring suburb of Belmore, and in 1909, it was extended even further, all the way to Lakemba. Benjamin Taylor donated land for the station, therefore it was appropriately named “Lakemba Cottage.”
In April of 1869, this building became home to Belmore School. First known as Belmore South Public School, the building was renamed Lakemba Public School in June 1910. The post office first opened its doors on July 1, 1879. For those riding Sydney’s trains on the Bankstown Line, the Lakemba station is a convenient stop. In 1895, the track was laid down for the first time, and in 1926, electricity was added.
