Kingsgrove taxi maxi, Kingsgrove is an area south of Sydney, Australia, in the state of New South Wales. Kingsgrove is located just south of Sydney, Australia’s commercial hub, at a distance of 13 kilometres (8.1 miles). It is in the local government areas of the Canterbury-Bankstown Council, the Bayside Council, and the Georges River Council.
Hannah Laycock (1758-1831), who was married to Quartermaster Thomas Laycock, received 500 acres from Governor Philip King in 1804. (1756-1809). In honour of Governor King, she named the farm King’s Grove. This was shortened to Kingsgrove in the end. The area is now bounded by Kingsgrove Road, Bexley Road, and William Street. Thomas Laycock was given the rank of meritorious officer by Governor King, who also suggested that he fill the open position of ensign in the New South Wales Corps. William and Samuel, two of their sons, each got 100 acres (0.40 km2) of land in the same area in 1804. Hannah got another 120 acres in 1812. When Simeon Lord bought the 820-acre Kingsgrove farm in 1829, it was all the way from Campsie and Cleeton Park to Stoney Creek Road. (Needs Reference) The first licenced inn in the area was the Man of Kent, which was on Kingsgrove Road near Morris Avenue on July 1, 1850. In 1856, Thomas Smithson, an Englishman from Leeds who made tobacco, opened the Cooks River Tobacco Manufactory on Stoney Creek Road. He sold snuff and cigars in Sydney up until the 1880s. One of Thomas Smithson’s sons, James Edward Smithson, made and sold wine from Smithson’s Wine Bar, which is now where Bexley Golf Course is. In 1931, the Kingsgrove train station opened, and the town grew after that.
Kingsgrove is well connected by both roads and public transportation.
Kingsgrove Road leads to the M5 Motorway, which leads to Sydney Airport and the Sydney Central Business District. Moorefields Road and William Street are two of the most important roads in the area.
The Kingsgrove station is on the Sydney Trains system’s T8 Airport Line. This line goes straight to both the airport and the central business district of Sydney.
There are two bus depots in the area, one for services run by Transit Systems and the other by Transdev. Bus routes 423 and L23 connect Kingsgrove to the Sydney Central Business District (CBD) via Earlwood, Marrickville, and Newtown.
The 446, 455, 490, 492, and 493 services provide more direct local bus connections to Campsie, Hurstville, Kogarah, Rockdale, Roselands, Earlwood, and Burwood. Also, the NightRide N20 bus route works with the late-night T8 train service to Riverwood through Beverly Hills and the City – Town Hall via Rockdale, Arncliffe, and Mascot.
