William and his new wife Elizabeth continued to raise the girl from William’s previous relationship; she adored her father. William had a strong relationship with his daughter. In the year 1828, Kearns made the decision to rename the region from River Hill to Epping Forest, which had been its original name. He increased the size of his property to 150 hectares (360 acres) and built a successful dairy farm and orchard by acquiring land concessions that were located adjacent to it. After he passed away in the year 1880, the property remained in the family until the year 1978.
