Freshwater Taxi Maxi, The city of Freshwater is located in the northern portion of Sydney in the Australian state of New South Wales. Freshwater is located 17 kilometres north-east of Sydney’s central business district and is located within the Northern Beaches region. The Northern Beaches Council, which is the local governing body, is responsible for supervising this matter.

The Harbord Estate was named in honour of the wife of former New South Wales Governor Lord Carrington (gov. 1885–90). Lady Carrington, formerly known as the Honorable Cecilia Margaret Harbord, changed her name upon marriage.

For a lot of years, both the beach and the neighbourhood that lies behind it were known as Freshwater. It is thought that the beach received its name from the freshwater stream that flowed to the coast (now Oceanview Road). Nonetheless, after the designation of Harbord Estate, a lot of locals began to believe that renaming the neighbourhood Harbord would boost Freshwater’s reputation as a vacation destination. They believed that this would better reflect the neighborhood’s charm throughout the holiday season. The decision to change the name provoked a substantial amount of criticism and debate, which at times became highly acrimonious. When the first local district school was built in 1912, a petition to call it Harbord Public School was filed to the Minister of Education. The Education Minister accepted the petition. The Minister rejected the proposal, and the institution was established as Freshwater Public School. Thereafter, there was pressure to alter the name of the post office. On September 1, 1923, Freshwater was officially renamed Harbord after the Postmaster-General acknowledged the ideas of those who wanted the region to be perceived as more residential.
On April 20, 1909, the Freshwater Bay Post Office was opened, and the following year it was renamed the Freshwater Post Office.
The Harbord Chamber of Commerce petitioned Warringah Council in 2003 to submit a name change application for the suburb of Harbord to the Geographical Names Board of New South Wales. Freshwater would be the new name. The petition sought to rename the neighbourhood from Harbord to Freshwater. 774 individuals supported the plan at the public consultation, while 161 individuals opposed it. On March 8, 2005, the results of the vote were recorded in the council’s minutes. On January 12, 2008, the neighbourhood formerly known as Harbord was renamed Freshwater.
Freshwater Beach, which is situated between Curl Curl and Queenscliff, is traversed en route from Manly to Curl Curl Beach.
Locals refer to the 1928-built Harbord Beach Hotel, located 200 metres from the beach, as the “Harbord Hilton.” This nickname comes from the hotel’s dilapidated condition prior to its recent renovations. In addition to its coastline panoramas, the Harbord Diggers RSL club has bowling greens.
