In Australia’s New South Wales, the Eveleigh suburb of Sydney is a city neighbourhood. About 3 kilometres south of the Sydney CBD is the local government area of Eveleigh, which is a part of the City of Sydney.

The name Eveleigh was given to Lieutenant J. R. Holden’s estate in recognition of the English town where he was born. A sizable chunk of Redfern’s suburb was first referred to as Eveleigh. Actually, Redfern railway station was the previous name for Eveleigh railway station. The station was located just southwest of the railroad yards in Eveleigh.
