Stage 2 of the Parramatta Light Rail is a light rail line that connects Westmead and Sydney Olympic Park through Parramatta. Ermington would put a halt to the project.

The Ermington United Sports & Recreation Club, which was founded in Ermington in 1957, operates mostly from the George Kendall Riverside Park. The club is now limited to soccer, netball, and tennis.

The Tigers Baseball & Softball Club plays its home games at George Kendall Riverside Park (formerly Epping Eastwood). T-ball, junior and senior baseball are all played on 5 diamonds along the river. The central diamond bears Gary Chong’s name, who was the club’s first life member and is still an active participant.
