Earlwood Taxi Maxi. Earlwood is an inner-west Sydney neighbourhood in the Australian state of New South Wales. 10 kilometres south-west of Sydney’s central business district, within the Canterbury-Bankstown Council local government area, is the suburb of Earlwood.
Earlwood runs from the southern bank of the Cooks River to the northern bank of Wolli Creek. Cooks River separates Marrickville from the east. Around the major thoroughfare, Homer Street, there are a few commercial developments in the residential area of Earlwood.
On Homer Street, 500 metres uphill from the Bardwell Park train station, is the commercial district. Additionally, Clarke Street contains a Coles supermarket and businesses. There are a number of restaurants and cafes in Earlwood’s retail outlets, including Greek, Thai, and various other European establishments.
The current location of KFC was formerly the home of former prime minister John Howard, whose parents operated two petrol stations in nearby Dulwich Hill.
(Source required) Once upon a time, Homer Street was home to the Chelsea and the Mayfair theatres. William Ernest May, who had resided at 424 Homer Street, constructed a number of the commercial center’s buildings, churches, and the Chelsea Theatre.
At the intersection of Homer Street and Earlwood Avenue sits the Earlwood Hotel. The Earlwood – Bardwell Park RSL is located between the Bardwell Park train station and the Wolli creek. In addition, the club is responsible for the EBP Sports Bowling Club on Doris Street. Fricourt Avenue is the location of the Earlwood ex-club servicemen’s. The Earlwood public library is located at the crossroads of William Street and Homer Street, in front of which stands a post box designated for its historical significance. Earlwood was previously the endpoint for electric tram services that followed a route similar to that of the current 423 bus service, which begins at the base of the hill in Undercliffe and extends to Earlwood.
