Curl Curl Taxi Maxi, Curl Curl is a suburb of northern Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, located 18 kilometres (11 miles) north-east of the Sydney central business district in the Northern Beaches Council local government area. It consists of the Northern Beaches.
Curl Curl and North Curl Curl are separated by Greendale Creek and Curl Curl Lagoon. Freshwater, Brookvale, and Dee Why are included among the neighbouring suburbs. Wingala is a nearby neighbourhood. From its eastern edge to North Curl Curl Beach, Curl Curl Beach extends.
On the Curl Curl seashore are North and South Curl Curl beaches. Curl Curl has some of the best surfing on the Northern Beaches.
South Curl Curl SLSC, which was established in 1918, and North Curl Curl SLSC, which was established in 1922, are the two volunteer surf lifesaving clubs located at Curl Curl Beach. From the end of September to Anzac Day, the Northern Beaches Council employs experienced lifeguards to patrol this beach. At each end of the beach are rockpools containing saltwater.
Curl Curl appears to be the indigenous name for the larger region that includes Manly Vale, Freshwater, and Queenscliff. Curl Curl may have been derived from the Dharuk Aboriginal name curial curial, which translates to “river of life.”
Curl Curl Lagoon originally referred to Manly Lagoon, which runs into the ocean at Queenscliff. Harbord Lagoon was the original name of the lagoon that empties into the ocean near Curl Curl Beach until the 1980s, when it was renamed Curl Curl Lagoon. Curl Curl Creek and Curl Curl Headland were the original names of Manly Creek and Queenscliff Headland, respectively.
In 1858, Samuel Bennett (who passed away in 1903) purchased an 80-acre (32 ha) farm south of Greendale Creek in the Curl Curl/Brookvale district for £600. Bennett cultivated the land until approximately 1870. Eventually, this region became known as Brighton Park.
