Condell Park Taxi Maxi, Condell Park a suburb of Canterbury-Bankstown Council in the Australian state of New South Wales, is located roughly 22 kilometres south-west of Sydney’s central business district and is part of the south-western Sydney metropolitan area. The postal code 2200 is shared by Condell Park, Mount Lewis, Bankstown, and Bankstown Airport.
Condell Park was named after Ousley Condell, an engineer who arrived with thirteen other settlers in the barque Swiftsure on May 8, 1829. After seeking for a position in the public sector in 1830, he was granted four contiguous 50-acre parcels that he named Condell Park.
Simmat Avenue Black Charlie’s Hill in Condell Park was named after a local character with the nickname “Black Charlie.” Charles Luzon or Charlie Lopez was apparently his real name, and he was of Native American origin. In the early 1900s, he resided near Edgar Street in South Yagoona and, like many of his neighbours, grew and brought vegetables to market by horse and cart. His home was constructed of corrugated iron. Supposedly, Black Charlie fired a single shot every night at 9 p.m., but the motivation was never determined. Others assumed he was warning of an impending aircraft, while others believed he was hunting rabbits.
Condell Park has a number of retailers and restaurants, including a The Friendly Grocer supermarket, Commonwealth Bank, a number of pharmacies, and many other stores and restaurants. A small portion of Simmat Avenue has the majority of the neighborhood’s shops, with a few scattered across the area.
